1743 English Georgian Sterling Silver Shell Dishes Thomas England, London. Presented is a lovely pair of English sterling silver dishes produced in London in the 18th century, specifically, in 1743 by silversmith Thomas England. Each dish is done in a beautifully symmetrical form of a scallop shell raised on two shell form feet.
The plates are of very high quality and are of nice weight and solid feel. Each one bears a crest on its lower right corner, of a highly detailed crown and two letters in flowing script which appear to be "SC".This pair is in excellent overall condition. One dish has a short, straight, 3.5 mm split in the center front. Each dish measures 5 3/8 wide by 4 7/8 inches long and is about 5/8 of an inch tall. Weight: 8.3 oz (236.5 grams) tm.
