1802/1805 Fab Pair English Georgian Sterling Silver Shakers / Casters

1802/1805 Fab Pair English Georgian Sterling Silver Shakers / Casters. Presented is a fabulous pair of English Georgian sterling silver shakers or casters. These casters were made by Crispin Fuller and date to 1802 and 1805. The shakers are done in a classical urn form, with a square footed base and a triple reeded band around the widest part of the body. The lids are finely hand engraved with bright cut designs.

One caster, the one made in 1805, has an engraved crest of a griffin's head erased, pierced by a spear. The other caster does not have this crest, but there has not been a removal, so it seems as though only the later caster was ever engraved with the crest. This pair is in good overall condition. As the photo points out, one of the casters has an old solder repair around the side, which is hard to notice without careful inspection. There are a couple of dings here and there, but nothing of any significance in our opinion. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no cracks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no other repairs. One caster is hallmarked on the side with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head crowned for the city of London, the date letter G for 1802, King George III's head duty mark, and the maker's mark for Crispin Fuller.

The lip of the lid is also hallmarked with the lion passant for sterling silver and the maker's mark for Crispin Fuller. The other caster is hallmarked on the side with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head crowned for the city of London, the date letter K for 1805, King George III's head duty mark, and the maker's mark for Crispin Fuller.

The lip of the lid is also hallmarked with the lion passant for sterling silver, King George III's head duty mark, and the maker's mark for Crispin Fuller. Each caster is about 5 3/4 inches tall.

The total weight for the pair is 173 grams or 6.1 regular ounces. Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution.
