This Georgian, early 19th century piece is done in a classic English Kings, King or Queen pattern and the front of the handle has an old monogram of the initials CEW. The large base is pierced with neat fan form swirls and stars. This is a large and heavy piece that could be used to serve any food, not just fish! The back is marked with the leopard's head for the city of London, the lion passant for sterling silver, a date letter l for the year 1826, a duty mark of the king's head and a maker's mark for William Chawner.
