A fine antique Georgian teapot. By Henry Chawmer & John Emes of London, England. Each side of the teapot is engraved wreath shaped cartouche. The top and bottom are decorated with engraved linework around the circumference, and the hinged lid is also engraved. The lid has a small wooden finial has been soldered and resecured.
Marked to the base with English hallmarks for Henry Chawmer & John Emes, London, England, Sterling, & 1796. Simply a great George III teapot from the late 18th century! It is in overall fair, as-pictured, used estate condition. There is a repair to the wooden finial, which is slightly loose, a tear to the seam where the body meets the base, and a small split in the body right above the bottom handle. Otherwise, there are some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age.
