The base collar seats well on the circular wood base. The felt has been replaced at some point.
Cartouche is engraved with an arm raised grasping serpent with the family motto "Per Bonum Malumque Fortitine". The coaster measures 5 1/2 inches wide and 2 1/2 inches tall, and sits firm & level. Clearly punched with the lion passant for assayed English silver, a city code of a leopard's head with crown for London, a date letter of "P" for 1770, and a rubbed makers mark showing the P and part of the W for William Plummer.
