ENGLISH STERLING SILVER MATCHING TRIMMER & SNUFFER TRAY SET. MADE BY THOMAS WILKES BARKER 1819 AND THOMAS RADCLIFFE 1818. Pleased to offer this exquisite Georgian matching snuffer tray & wick trimmers. A rounded rectangular raised lip tray with gadroon border decorated with figural shell, rosette, and foliate elements.

Rnate wick trimmers feature matching patterns, and stand on three circular pad feet. In this case the wick trimmers were made by Thomas Radcliffe in 1818. The owner, then decided to have a tray made by a different maker, and requested the silversmith the use the design elements of the wick trimmers to match the tray.

The tray measures 9 1/2 inches long and 4 1/2 inches wide. The trimmers are 7 inches long. The set weighs 348 grams (11.2 Troy Oz). In overall excellent condition considering they are Over 200 years old. Even the spring in the wick trimmers is still tight, and the tension strong to automatically close the snuffer.

This is very rare to see! Tray clearly punched with makers mark of T. B with pellet in rectangle for Thomas Barker, Lion passant for assayed sterling, leopards head with crown for London, and date letter of "d" for 1819. The wick trimmers share all the same marks except the date letter is'c" for 1818 and the makers mark is "T"pellet "R within a rectangle for Thomas Ratcliffe. 1805..1826 (registered Feb 1805).
