This is a sterling silver English George II tankard made by John Bayley, dated 1751. Shrubsole, New York & London. The original paper description label was inside when I found it, this is included in the sale. No dents or dings, no scratches or repairs. It is monogrammed on the handle "D I D" alongside another small hallmark.
This is 7 1/2" tall and the base is 4 3/4" wide. The hinge is tight and properly "aligned".
Properly hallmarked on the lid, bottom and handle. It is solid sterling silver, weighing 33.2 ounces. This could use a better polishing than what cleaning I just gave it. Found recently in a local estate here in Central Virginia. These original old tankards are becoming harder to find in this condition.
Please ask questions if needed. Any white spots are camera flash reflections. I pack very well, and do not charge anything extra as "add-ons". I do not end auctions early. I treat my customers as I would expect to be treated. This item is in the category "Antiques\Silver\Non-U.
