Nice 1775 Georgian English Sterling Silver Pierced Basket By Philip Freeman
Presented is a nice Georgian English sterling silver pierced basket. This piece dates to 1775. The bottom of the basket is solid, while the rest is lovely openwork.

The rim of the basket has a flower design. This is a pretty good size basket, suitable for use as a bread basket, displaying fruit, etc. As the photos show, this piece has had several repairs and reinforcements.

We haven't shown them all, but the photos show enough of the repairs to give you an idea of the piece's condition. The basket is still quite sturdy and the repairs are not very noticeable in normal use.

This piece is hallmarked on the rim with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head crowned for the city of London, the date letter U for 1775, and the maker's mark for Philip Freeman. The handle is also hallmarked with the lion passant.

The basket has approximate dimensions of 12 1/2 by 11 1/4 by 4 1/4 inches, LxWxH. This piece weighs 558.6 grams or 19.5 regular ounces. Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution.
